DON BOSCO YOUTH EXPO 2015

Don Bosco Youth Expo 2015, the concluding event of the commemoration of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco’s birth at the South Asian Regional level, was held on 29th & 30th September, 2015 at Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, New Delhi.

Young people from all over India took part in this extraordinary event. Don Bosco School Alaknanda witnessed a gathering of over 1250 youngsters from 11 provinces across the country. The bicentenary celebration in honour of Don Bosco resembled a sea of colourful gaiety.

The magnetism Don Bosco exerts universally influences not only the Salesians, but draws close every young person who comes in contact with him, to the extent of a subtle coercion, towards falling in love with the man.

The Theme of Don Bosco Youth Expo 2015 was “LIKE DON BOSCO, WITH THE YOUNG, FOR THE YOUNG!”

“With The Young, For The Young”: We are saying WITH THE YOUNG, because if what is filling our hearts as we respond to the vocational call of the Lord Jesus is a special pastoral love for boys and girls, for the young. This will show itself in us as it did in Don Bosco as a very real “passion” in discovering what is best for them, devoting all our strength, all our efforts to this end.

Few Themes discussed during the Youth Expo:

  • Role and Responsibility of Youth in the Modern World
  • Youth and National Reconstruction
  • Unity in Diversity
  • Role of Youth for a Cleaner and Greener Environment
  • Gender Sensitization in Schools
  • Responsible Social Media use
  • Non-Violence Education

The Youth Expo was a celebration which was for the young, involving the young. During these two days, there was BOSCO UTSAV 2015, which was celebrated with the presentation of cultural items by each province, which were organised in such a way that it was a feast for the eyes. BOSCO FIESTA 2015 was the highlight of the Youth Expo.

There was a Talk Show: a talk show that reflected on the challenges and issues faced by youngsters today; Holy Eucharist by Rector Major; Youth Catechesis Discourses and Interaction; Book Releases; Fun- filled Activities; Multi talent Competitions, such as Mime, Rangoli competition, Music, Canvas Paintings competitions.

Several speakers shared the knowledge and experience that they had while they were in Don Bosco Institutions and other speakers enlightened the youth with secular topics.

The great event of the Don Bosco Youth Expo 2015 was a lovely experience of being together as one big great Salesian family that will always live on in our hearts! Such a celebration renewed our love for Don Bosco and his way of life.
